Палмер, Сьюзан

Сьюзан Джин Палмер (англ. Susan Jean Palmer; род 14 апреля 1946) — канадский религиовед и социолог религии. Специализируется на исследовании новых религиозных движений. Получила наибольшую известность как автор монографии «Moon Sisters, Krishna Mothers, Rajneesh Lovers: Women’s Roles in New Religions» (1994).

Биография

В 1968 году получила бакалавра гуманитарных наук по английскому языку с отличием в Университете Макгилла.

В 1976 году получила магистра гуманитарных наук по религиоведению и сравнительной этике Университете Конкордия, а в 1992 году там же получила доктора философии по религиоведению.

В 1974—2013 годах — профессор религиоведения в Доусон-колледже в Монреале.

В 1992—2014 годах была преподавателем-почасовиком, в 1996—2006 годах — адъюнкт-профессором, в 2008—2010 годах — научным сотрудником, а в 2011—2016 годах — профессором (англ. Affiliate Professor) кафедры религиоведения Университете Конкордия.

В 2013—2016 годах — сотрудник факультета религиоведения Университете Макгилла.

Увлекается игрой на арфе. Училась игре на клавесине и изучала старинную музыку в Музыкальной консерватории Квебека в Монреале и в Университете Макгилла, а также училась игре на арфе в Ирландской музыкальной школе в Сиамса. Её учили играть на кельтской арфе Элисон Киннаирд, Энни Хейманн и Сиобхан Армстронг. Выступала вместе со Scottish Trio и Arisaig Mist.
